Crisis Counseling and Support

 

            The Network operates a confidential 24-hour crisis hotline, seven days a week.  Assistance includes information, referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, and requests for shelter.

 

Emergency Shelter - The Tracey Thurman Shelter

           

            The Network maintains a 15-bed emergency shelter for women and children involved in a domestic violence crisis.  The counselors will assist you and your children with shelter, support, information, and referrals.  Women and children can stay up to 60 days.

 

Counseling and Support Groups

 

            The Network offers short-term individual counseling and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse.  Both individual counseling and support groups focus on domestic abuse, the cycle of violence, types of abuse, safety planning, and self esteem issues.  We currently operate the Women's Support Group weekly :

WALK INS WELCOME

 

Victim Advocacy

 

            The Network provides assistance with criminal court procedures and referrals for victims within the Connecticut Family Violence Law, including information regarding protective and restraining orders.

 

Children’s Services

 

            The Network provides short-term counseling and referral information to children who witness domestic violence.  This program operates both in the Tracey Thurman Shelter and the community.

 

Community Education Program

 

            The Network provides speakers and presentations to all school grade levels in the six towns we serve, as well as community, civic, religious, and employer groups.

 

Volunteer Program

 

            After completing a 21-hour certification training program, volunteers provide numerous hours of volunteer work to promote the mission of The Network.
