Billboard Project
This project provides awareness during October’s
National Domestic Violence Awareness month, throughout the six towns in North Central Connecticut that we serve.
National Domestic Violence
Awareness Month
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness
Month. This month is dedicated to the victims and survivors of domestic violence
and their families. During this month especially, the Network Against Domestic
Abuse focuses on generating awareness and education in our six-town catchment area that we serve. Each October, the Network has billboards posted in each of our six towns, with our logo and hotline number
displayed on them. Other activities include the Day of Unity, when we reflect
and remember the victims and their families who have experienced domestic violence in their lives. In each of the six towns that we serve, volunteers pass out purple ribbons signifying unity. “Empty
Place at the Table” is a table display showing an empty place setting, which signifies a
life lost due to domestic violence. This display has been set up at Asnuntuck
Community Technical College
in Enfield, CT for the month of October.
The Network has other activities and programs
scheduled throughout the month of October, in an effort to build public awareness surrounding domestic violence.
Back-to-School
This program enabled 87 children to start the
school year off with at least one new outfit, shoes, sneakers, and school supplies.
Holiday Gift Giving
Individuals, groups, organizations, or businesses
sponsor a child or a family, and donate gifts such as toys for children to open on Christmas morning. Those who are sponsored have received services from the Network Against Domestic Abuse within the last
year. This program provided 127 children and 30 parents with presents during
this holiday season.
The Back-to-School and Holiday
gift giving are annual programs. If you would like to sponsor a child in either of these programs, please call us at (860)763-7430.
