National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  This month is dedicated to the victims and survivors of domestic violence and their families.  During this month especially, the Network Against Domestic Abuse focuses on generating awareness and education in our six-town catchment area that we serve.  Each October, the Network has billboards posted in each of our six towns, with our logo and hotline number displayed on them.  Other activities include the Day of Unity, when we reflect and remember the victims and their families who have experienced domestic violence in their lives.  In each of the six towns that we serve, volunteers pass out purple ribbons signifying unity.  “Empty Place at the Table” is a table display showing an empty place setting, which signifies a life lost due to domestic violence.  This display has been set up at Asnuntuck Community Technical College in Enfield, CT for the month of October.   The Network has other activities and programs scheduled throughout the month of October, in an effort to build public awareness surrounding domestic violence.
